Community corrections officer
Role and key duties
Community corrections officers manage adults sentenced to community based orders and those on parole. They ensure offenders comply with their supervision conditions and address the causes of their offending behaviour.
Duties may include: working with offenders to ensure compliance to their orders; reporting any breaches of the orders; and making recommendations to courts in the sentencing process.
Minimum qualification required
Completion of Year 12 or equivalent (including VCE , VCAL or Certificate II VET sector accreditation).
While no formal qualifications are sought, a Degree in an appropriate discipline such as Social Work or Criminal Justice is desirable. Once employed, in-house training is provided for staff to work towards a Certificate IV Correctional Practice (Community).
