Patient transport officer
Role and key duties
Patient transport officers undertake non-emergency transport of stretcher or clinic car (ambulant, semi-ambulant or wheelchair bound) patients.
Duties may include: assuming responsibility for the transport of low acuity patients, where the expectation is that the patient will not require any clinical care; assessing or monitoring the patients while in transit; and assisting in the transport of medium and high acuity non-emergency patients.
Minimum qualification required
Completion of Certificate III in Non-Emergency Patient Transport.
First aid qualifications, additional tertiary education relating to ambulance transport care and patient transport and emergency ambulance driver training.
