Ambulance transport attendant

Role and key duties

Ambulance transport attendants undertake transport of non-emergency stretcher patients.

Duties may include: assuming responsibility for the clinical care of low and medium acuity nonemergency patients assisting in the transportation of high acuity non-emergency patients; and assisting with a range of clinical practice protocols such as breathing difficulty, cardiac arrest and monitoring, management of pain, oxygen administration and hypoglycaemia.

Minimum qualification required

Completion of a Diploma in Paramedical Science (Ambulance), Diploma of Health Sciences (Emergency Care) or equivalent and not less than 400 hours of supervised clinical practice.
