Patient transport officer

Role and key duties

Patient transport officers undertake non-emergency patients' stretcher transport work. They have first aid qualifications, additional education relating to ambulance transport care and training in patient transport and emergency ambulance driving.

Duties may include: rapid response defibrillation and managing a range of clinical practice protocols such as breathing difficulty, cardiac arrest and monitoring, management of pain, oxygen administration, and hypoglycaemia.

Minimum qualification required

Completion of Certificate III in Non-emergency Client Transport.

Recommended qualification

Certificate III in Non-emergency Client Transport.
