Recreational therapist

Role and key duties

Recreational therapists use group physical activities, games and sports to encourage patients undergoing rehabilitation to become more active. Therapists work with individuals and groups, identify patient goals and cooperate with patients to build a treatment program.

Duties may include: developing treatment plans with varied interventions based on assessment, interests and objectives of therapy; instructing patients in activities and techniques designed to meet their specific physical or psychological needs; and preparing and submitting patients" reactions and progress reports with the treatment team.

Minimum qualification required

Completion of a Degree in Health Science.

Recommended qualification

Degree in Health Science.
