Credit officer

Role and key duties

Credit officers examine , evaluate and process applications for credit or loans and, in a commercial enterprise, control and process accounts. Credit officers use the documentation to decide whether or not an application should be approved.

Duties may include: collecting overdue customer accounts; making both written and verbal contact with the customers; doing reconciliations; taking ownership of tasks until resolution; developing credit risks and payment plans; and ensuring that debtors remain within credit terms.

Minimum qualification required

Completion of a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Financial Services.
