Role and key duties
Interior designers design and supervise the construction or redevelopment of building interiors.
Duties may include: talking to clients and architects to work out client needs and intentions, and to make sure that safety requirements are met; developing designs that are appropriate, functional and aesthetically pleasing; preparing working drawings and specifications for interior construction, materials, finishes, space planning, lighting, furnishings and equipment; estimating costs of materials, labour and time, and giving estimates to clients for approval; and organising supplies and preparing detailed instructions for tradespeople.
Minimum qualification required
Completion of a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Interior Design.
Degree in Interior Design.
