Role and key duties
Primary school teachers educate primary school children by planning and conducting an education program to develop literacy, numeracy and the physical, emotional, intellectual and social growth of their students.
Duties may include: preparing daily and longer term lesson plans in accordance with curriculum guidelines; teaching the full range of learning areas, such as English (reading, writing, speaking and listening), mathematics, science, technology, society and environment, creative arts, and personal development, health and physical education; developing children"s interests, abilities andcoordination using creative activities such as art, music and sport; using computers to assist in lesson preparation, teaching and reporting; and developing and maintaining good working habits and discipline in classrooms.
Minimum qualification required
Completion of a Degree in Education with a major in Early Childhood or Primary, or Degree in Teaching with a major in Primary.
