Role and key duties

Koorie transition officers are employes in each Department of Education and Early Childhood Development regional office and their role is to ensure that they help to create more socially inclusive pathways to economic participation for young Koorie people in education, training and employment and strengthening the pathway betwen education and training and employment.

Duties may include: acting as a resource to drive, facilitate and coordinate activity needed to increase the aspirations of young Koorie people to complete secondary education and VET qualifications; support the development of clearer pathways from education into employment, further education and training and work collaboratively with existing Koorie education coordinators, Wurreker brokers and a range of stakeholders across government, catholic and Independent school sectors including career coordinators, local learning and employment networks, youth transition officers, the adult Community and Futher education sector, Skills Victoria and the Vocational Education and Training, TAFE and university sectors.
