Role and key duties

Publishers select material or commission work for publication.

Duties may include: arranging contracts with authors; arranging the editing of manuscripts; employing writers, photographers, graphic designers and illustrators; organising the design and approval of artwork; and liaising with sales and marketing departments.

Minimum qualification required

Completion of Year 12 or equivalent (including VCE, VCAL or Certificate II VET sector accreditation).

Recommended qualification

Degree in Journalism, Business Studies, Communication, Marketing or an area in Humanities.
