Urban designer

Role and key duties

Urban designers advise on development proposals and opportunities in key locations such as Central Activities Districts, Activity Centres and urban renewal areas and work in multidisciplinary teams to implement public realm improvements in cities and towns.

Duties may include: researching and developing strategic policy documents such as Urban Design Frameworks; designing guidelines and case studies; and undertaking project management ofpublic realm infrastructure projects.

Typical qualification sought

Completion of a degree in Urban Design, Architecture and/or Landscape Architecture.

Recommended qualifications

Degree in Urban Design, Architecture and/or Landscape Architecture.
