Fishing/aquaculture officer

Role and key duties

Fishing/aquaculture officers monitor and investigate unlawful fishing activities and the removal of protected marine life.

Duties may include: inspecting fishing vessels, gear and processing facilities; surveying oyster, pearling, fishing and prawning leases; checking that fish is sold legally; and advising industry on fishing regulations, export standards and renewal of fishing licences.

Minimum qualification required

Completion of a Diploma in Conservation and Land Management.
